Interclub at Torbay Tennis Club

Participating in interclub tennis for Torbay Tennis Club offers our members a valuable opportunity to engage with the wider Tennis Northern community, allowing them to test their skills against a diverse range of players. The Tennis Northern senior interclub competition runs from September to April, with a Christmas break from mid-December to mid-January.

Teams are split into grades, playing round robin matches every other week.

Summer Interclub

Signing up for Interclub is a commitment to play for a team from mid-September through to April with a break over the Christmas/New Year period.

2023 – 2024 Interclub Season:

18 Sep 2023 – 21 Apr 2024

Mixed Doubles

• Play every other week (once a fortnight)
• Team of 4 men & 4 women
• Play 1 same gender doubles match & 1 mixed doubles match
• Best of two 7 point tiebreak sets with a ten point 3rd set super tiebreak if required.
• 1pm Saturday. Followed by afternoon tea provided by the host club.

Women’s Doubles

• Play every other week (once a fortnight)
• Team of 4
• Play 2 doubles matches
• Best of two 7 point tiebreak sets with a ten point 3rd set super tiebreak if required.
• 6.30pm Thursday evenings.

Men’s Doubles

• Play every other week (once a fortnight)
• Team of 4
• Play 2 doubles matches
• Best of two 7 point tiebreak sets with a ten point 3rd set super tiebreak if required.
• 6.30pm Wednesday/Thursday evenings.

Women’s Singles

• Play every other week (once a fortnight)
• Team of 4
• Play 1 singles match and 1 doubles match
• Singles matches – Best of three 7 point tiebreak sets.
• Doubles matches – Best of two 7 point tiebreak sets with a ten point 3rd set super tiebreak if required.
• 6pm Wednesday evenings

Men’s Singles

• Play every other week (once a fortnight)
• Team of 4
• Play 1 singles match and 1 doubles match
• Singles matches – Best of three 7 point tiebreak sets.
• Doubles matches – Best of two 7 point tiebreak sets with a ten point 3rd set super tiebreak if required.
• 6pm Monday/Tuesday evenings

Singles only

• Enter individually
• One singles match – best of three tie-breaker sets
• Draw managed by TN, matches organised by players
• Results recorded online, the same as summer interclub matches

Midweek Ladies Interclub

Starts in October and continues to March.

Teams of 4 women play 2 doubles matches each on Monday or Tuesday morning starting at 9.30am. Lunch is provided by the host team.

Junior Interclub

Pre Christmas: 25 Oct 2023 to 17 Dec 2023
Post Christmas: 7 Feb 2024 to 14 Apr 2024

The Tennis Northern Winter Senior Interclub competition runs from May to August.
