Club Champs Wrap Up

Well, what a day! What a day!

Yup yup yuppy doo!

If you weren’t there, then I can safely say that you missed out. No, I am not talking about the native tree-planting and rodent-trapping day in Wellsford. I am sure that was good too.

I am talking about the club champs at the Torbay Tennis Club that happened last weekend.

So who wants to hear the results?

Adult Club Champs results – 18/7/26

Women’s singles:

Karla Anderson vs  Stephanie Attwater – Karla won 9 – 6 
3rd place went to Cindy Hurst, beating Monica Sun 5 – 3

Women’s doubles:

Karla Anderson & Kate Finlayson vs Katrin Hahn and Stephanie Attwater – Karla & Kate won 9 – 1
3rd place went to Shelley Belcourt & Monica Sun who beat Kirianne Nicolson & Cindy Hurst 5 – 4

Mixed doubles:

Piotr Jackowski & Karla Anderson vs Shelley Belcourt & Ben Dehe – Piotr & Karla won 9 – 5
David Everiss & Katrin Hahn came 3rd, beating Hong Chang & Stephanie Attwater 5 – 4

Men’s doubles:

Hong Chang & Jamie Han vs Michail Hobbs & Ian Sun – Hong & Jamie won 9 – 2
3rd place went to Piotr Jackowski &Piotr Piasta, beating Christian Big Banana Nicolson & David Everis 5 – 2

Men’s singles:

Michail Hobbs vs Piotr Jackowski – Michail won 9 – 6
3rd place went to James Crompton, your Wednesday Night special host, with a 5 – 4 win over Hayden Dawson

Overall, a jolly good time had by all. Even the losers – which is most of us, had fun. Boy, it was a hoot.

Thanks to Sam for running the BBQ. Those that iou’d sausages, you know what to do. I will email your total later.

The chat around the clubrooms was that some people would like to see a slightly different format next year where we don’t get to choose our partners and draw a name out of a hat. That is something we would be considering for next time. It is how some clubs choose to do it.
